BFF Baby Shower

Homemade Pound Cake

I made this delicious pound cake this past weekend for my family. My mom actually told me that it's better then her recipe...I was like wow...My mom is a very good cook..The recipe is listed below...Enjoy

Ingredients

• 1/2 pound (2 sticks) butter, plus more for pan
• 1/2 cup vegetable shortening
• 3 cups sugar
• 5 eggs
• 3 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for pan
• 1/2 teaspoon fine salt
• 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
• 1 cup milk
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

With a mixer, cream butter and shortening together. Add sugar, a little at a time. Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating after each addition. Stir dry ingredients together in a bowl and add to mixer alternately with milk, starting with the flour and ending with the flour. Mix in vanilla. Pour into a greased and floured tube pan and bake for 1 to 1 1/2 hours, until a toothpick inserted in the center of the cake comes out clean.

Vanilla Brown Sugar Body Scrub

2 cups brown sugar

1 cup granulated sugar

1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract

1 cup sunflower oil

1.  Mix sugar & brown sugar together until there are no lumps.

2.  Stir in vanilla extract & sunflower oil.

Lemon Sugar Hand Scrub

2 1/2 cups granulated sugar

1 cup extra virgin olive oil

4 tablespoons lemon juice

*Stir together sugar & olive oil.

*Add lemon juice.

*Makes about 12 ounces!!

Relay 4 Life

The Family and I attended Relay 4 Life in Starkville on May 4th. We had a really good time. Lots of people came out to support a really good cause. I am a breast cancer survivor myself. At our booth we were selling homemade cake pops, cookies, handmade greeting cards, and etc. I will be uploading the cards I made soon...

Buttermilk Blueberry Cake

I found this recipe on Pinterest. I tried it and it turned out great.

Buttermilk-Blueberry Breakfast Cake

Serves 6-8
½ cup unsalted butter, room temperature
2 tsp. lemon zest or more — zest from 1 large lemon
7/8 cup* + 1 tablespoon sugar**
1 egg, room temperature
1 tsp. vanilla
2 cups flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. kosher salt
2 cups fresh blueberries
½ cup buttermilk
* 7/8 cup = 3/4 cup + 2 tablespoons
** This 1 tablespoon is for sprinkling on top
1. Preheat the oven to 350ºF. Cream butter with lemon zest and 7/8 cup of the sugar until light and fluffy.
2. Add the egg and vanilla and beat until combined. Meanwhile, toss the blueberries with ¼ cup of flour, then whisk together the remaining flour, baking powder and salt.
3. Add the flour mixture to the batter a little at a time, alternating with the buttermilk. Fold in the blueberries.
4. Grease a 9-inch square baking pan (or something similar) with butter or coat with non-stick spray. Spread batter into pan. Sprinkle batter with remaining tablespoon of sugar. Bake for 35 minutes. Check with a toothpick for doneness. If necessary, return pan to oven for a couple of more minutes. (Note: Baking for as long as 10 minutes more might be necessary.) Let cool at least 15 minutes before serving.

 

Valentine's Day Card

I made this card for my son's girlfriend for Valentine's Day. She called me and said she loved it...It is an A2 size card and the card base is cut from kraft card stock. Kraft card stock is so natural and make beautiful cards and scrapbook pages.

Thinking of You Card

This is an A2 size card I made for my husband. I love to deer hunt so that's why I used the image of a deer from my create a critter cartridge. I love making and leaving cards from my husband.
